Why do many developers seemingly hate Test Driven Development? Many others find TDD to be an exceedingly effective practice. Automated testing when the tests are written before the code focuses developers more on the design of their code, amplifying their own talents and helps them to build better software faster, yet there are still a bunch of common pushbacks from the people that don’t like it. So what are some of the commoner pushbacks against TDD and if you are in favour of TDD and would like your team to adopt it, but face some resistance, what are some useful arguments against these common pushbacks?
In the episode Dave Farley, author of “Continuous Delivery” and “Modern Software Engineering” explores some common arguments against TDD and his defence against these arguments, while trying hard not to say “That’s because you are doing it wrong!” and nearly succeeding at avoiding that cliche.
