In this video lesson we will discover what an integer is by definition, on a number line and in the real world. Students will understand that integers are positive numbers, negative numbers and zero using a visual image of integers on a number line. I will also show examples of values that are NOT integers. Practice is embedded in the lesson with detailed solutions.

Common Core Math Standard
6.NS.C.5 Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values (e.g., temperature above/below zero, elevation above/below sea level, credits/debits, positive/negative electric charge); use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.
