Windows or Linux? We compare the different .NET hosting operating systems and install an ASP.NET Core application on both.

First, we will compare Linux .NET Core hosting and then compare it to Windows .NET Core hosting.

Afterwards, we will see what the steps to install .NET Core on Linux. Then, we will compare the installation to a Windows machine, and how to host an ASP.NET Core application on IIS.

Finally, we will look at performance. We install a .NET 5 application onto both Windows & Linux systems to see if there is any difference in the .NET 5 web hosting operating systems.

This will give you a guide to either host your .NET application on a Linux server, or a Windows server.
