In the Sonic Boom comic series, Knuckles betrays his friends after enduring constant bullying and feeling misunderstood. When their friend Tails' house is stolen by a rock monster, the team devises a plan to get it back. However, Knuckles repeatedly fails to grasp the plan and faces Amy's harsh criticism. Frustrated, Knuckles leaves the group and appears to join forces with their nemesis, Dr. Eggman. After trapping his friends, Knuckles reveals it's all a prank, but it backfires, as Eggman gains the upper hand. Eventually, they use Knuckles' unwitting assistance to defeat Eggman, mend their friendship, and save the day.
