There are several long term side effects from chemotherapy. One particular class of drugs commonly used can affect the long term functioning of the heart, so baseline heart tests and monitoring take place before, during and after treatment.

The Youth Cancer Services provide specialist treatment and support to young people with cancer aged 15-25. The services are staffed with expert doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists and others experienced in working with young cancer patients.
