Did the CIA classify a "global catastrophe" document? (Corrected and updated)
It's had millions of hits -- A claim that the CIA classified a document that predicted a global cataclysm and the end of civilization.
But what was the document? Was it classified, and if so why? What's the science behind it?
As always, it's the result of blogosphere hype, ignorance, and a failure to properly research the facts. Sources are below.
CLARIFICATION:
Someone thought the photo of SuspiciousObservers and The Why Files at around 22:00 implied criticism of The Why Files channel, or an assumption that it is a conspiracy channel. The photo comes at the point where I say: "You don’t have to have come top of the class to debunk this blogosphere claptrap. Anyone can do it." SuspiciousObservers represents the blogosphere claptrap, as was already clearly shown in my video, and I introduce The Why Files guy as an example of "anyone can debunk it." Sorry if that wasn't clear.

The charity funds hospitals and affordable health care to villages on the edges of national parks, in return for a pledge not to cut down trees. The pledges are monitored, and the result has been a dramatic decrease in deforestation rates and an increase in the health of the local population.
Patients -- mostly from farming families -- can pay for their subsidised treatment with tree saplings or manure. So for them, treatment is essentially free.
The manure goes to organic farms that HiH is encouraging, as it teaches local farmers how to farm organically rather than slash-and-burn the forest.
As for the tree saplings, HiH volunteers plant these in areas of forest that have been illegally cut. This restores the forest, and HiH receives money for this from people and companies who pay for carbon credits. That money goes towards paying doctors, nurses, dentists, and and keeps the clinics running.
