By the time Genesis was written, the Biblical authors assumed the Philistines had always been in the land, while Israel came from elsewhere. Yet, the Philistines were late-bronze-age invaders from the Aegean who assimilated into Canaanite culture, and Israel had always been there. John Hamer of Toronto Centre Place will look at the archaeological, historical, and biblical accounts to deepen our knowledge of this ancient civilization and their relationship to Israel.
